This is an recent Burmese hand-lacquered Serving tray for snacks or a cup with snack, made with wood, lacquer, color and beautifully etched. It is 7.5 inches (19 cm) wide, 9 in (23 cm) long and 1 in (2.5 cm) tall and in perfect condition with no nicks and etched and painted on the bottom as well as the top. This makes a nice small item holder on desks for paper clips, rubber bands or other kinds of items that clutter a desk and are hard to find when needed. It is also good for snacks that sit on the table for long times and is easily refillable, the 8 animals on the cover indicating the food days of the week (2 animals for Wednesday, Lion and Elephant). A free plastic stand for cabinet display is given with this, either black or clear as the customer prefers. Different sample on stand shown.

I have had this piece and others in my private collection that I got in Northern Burma in the mid-late 1990s. The piece is estimated to be from 1980 or earlier and of a private collection consigned to be made by expert craftsmen of one family for the royalty who required it. Now there is no access to Burma and these are extremely hard to find. This has excellent craftsmanship, fine handicraft work with lacquer and paint materials with unequaled work and the unique beauty of Burmese culture. This is part of a collection of various sizes and pieces, all similarly made, with food bowls as well. Pictures available on request. This item has 8 animals on the cover, the week's animals ( 1 animal per day except Wed when AM is lion and PM is the Elephant, a typical traditional symbolism.)
